Faces and Masks
This series draws on traditional Korean tal, masks once worn by commoners to mock nobles and monks. I wear these masks to navigate environments shaped by dominant cultural norms of race and gender; over time they shift into faces and then into circles that mark memory, longing, burden, and defiance. Repeated heads cluster, float, and press together, exploring memory, longing, burden, and defiance.
